Daria and photographer Cass Bird team up once again for a short video, and this time it's for Vogue's "Punk Stories", a series of web films put out highlighting the recent punk revival in fashion and the theme of this year's Met Gala.
"For our third installment of “Punk Stories,” director Cass Bird shot model Daria Werbowy channeling the many faces and fashions of punk—from a Billy Idol-esque bleached crop to a perfectly spiked and studded leather jacket—see if you can catch all six of her looks in our video." - vogue.com
I love this. I don't think I'll ever get bored of Cass's work with Daria because she's always switching it up. Daria has been modeling for nearly two decades but we had yet to see her channel her inner punk before this video. She definitely pulls off not just the looks but attitude as well. And how awesome does she look behind the microphone?
There were also a few pictures released along with the video, which you can see below. I don't know if they'll ever be in print but I'm assuming this is only for the online website - Vogue can only go so punk!
No word yet on whether or not Daria will be attending this years Met Gala (on May 6) but she's been absent the past two years and big parties aren't really her scene so I doubt it. But for now enjoy the vid!
Daria is the face of Lancome's newest collection "Aquatic Summer" for their summer 2013 season. I'm biased and I think Daria always looks pretty but unfortunately this looks nothing like Daria! Lancome have once again gone overboard with the retouching - why have such a beautiful model to front your brand and then make it look nothing like her! Sigh, just when I thought Lancome was easing up on the photoshop ...
If you remember back to a few months ago - I wasn't blogging unfortunately - there were candids circulating of Daria and her new haircut (thanks Megan for the heads up!). The cut was courtesy of Christiaanand I'm guessing the two worked on the Lancome campaign together. Wonder why Lancome decided not to incorporate the bleached rat-tail?!
If you're a makeup junkie like me you can read more about the collection here, and hopefully Lancome will come out with a more impressive campaign this year.
Also, some news on Vogue Espana and Vogue US. Unfortunately Daria didn't get the May 2013 cover for Vogue Espana but she still may have an editorial in this issue, or in the next one. And no editorial in Vogue US for May either so we'll have to wait a bit more!

We've been getting so many behind the scenes pictures of Daria lately - great to see because it just means more work in the upcoming months! To recap we've seen behind-the-scenes pictures of an upcoming spread in Vogue Espana with Patrick Demarchelier, and Mert Alas and Daria at work in Venice for an editorial in US Vogue. The pics below are also from Daria's work with Mert, taken by an Italian news site.
The pink coat Daria is wearing is from Bottega Veneta pre-fall 2013 so I expect we should see these images in the July or August issue of Vogue, if I'm getting my collections correct. I love the classic hair and Venice is a beautiful place so I'm more than sure these images will be translated beautifully in print.
London based hair stylist Paul Hanlon also posted a picture of him and Daria in London. They've worked together before, mostly editorial work, so hopefully something will come of their meeting! All in all we've got three editorials to look forward to!
"Beyond Daria !! Such a beauty and such a nice person!! Pleasure to work with always !! April 6, 2013"

Update! Daria and Mert are shooting for an editorial in US Vogue!
I just did an Instagram check and a few familiar faces popped up on my feed! Both Daria and Mert Alas (of photographic duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot) posted some silly photos. It doesn't take much deduction to know that there will be some new work to come from these selfies!
They're both in Venice but it's not clear as to what they're working on. A poster on tFS guessedthat it might be a campaign, and Versace would make a lot of sense but that's already been wrapped up. What do you think?
Either way it's great to see them working together. So far we've just been getting previews of Daria working with photographers so it'll be great to see all of these translated in print.
Some good news for Spanish fans! Daria has work coming up in an issue of Vogue Espana, probably the May 2013 issue. I don't think VE intended this video to be released so early but nonetheless its a sneak peak of an editorial (and hopefully a cover!).
It was shot by Patrick Demarchelier in St Barths. That seems to be the go-to spot for most of Daria's work! The preview reminds me a lot of Daria's work with Satoshi Saikusa and Derek Kettela in 2011, when we got a ton of beach inspired editorials. You can see all of those in the editorial page which is now ... COMPLETE! Yep, definitely took a while but now you can find the biggest collection of Daria's editorial work there. And hopefully we can add this editorial to the 2013 section!
Some screencaps from the video:
Have a great Good Friday for those who are celebrating and happy Friday to everyone else!
If you follow Terry Richardson's blogregularily you'll know he always posts behind the scenes pictures of various models he photographs. With the release of the V#74 IMG Powerhouse editorial (under the Editorials tab) Terry had the chance to photograph a group of beautiful girls. These photos of Daria are spectacular ... the only bad thing is that it doesn't give us a preview of any new work!
Daria can add another Lancome campaign to her 2011 year. She one of the three faces, along with Arlenis Sosa and Eletrra Wiedemann, for a new version of Lancomes Hypnose mascara - Doll Eyes. If vapid and beautiful, albeit slightly creepy, dolls was the look Lancome was going for then they really nailed it. Thanks to francy_italy at tFS for the heads up!
I used to really dislike Lancome ads in the past for their overly eager photoshop but I've grown to really like and look forward to their campaigns. Its not every model that has a beauty contract for over five years and Daria has done a great job as a spokesperson. I'm not biased (no really!) but Daria stands out in this campaign.
Behind the Scenes of Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes
Its also great that this came out today because I was just about to post on some site news! I completely revamped the Lancome page and Daria's entire work with Lancome is now added and archived to the site! Just browse through the years for behind the scenes pictures, commericals and campaigns. I'm really glad that a big portion of the site is now finished, but if you find any trouble or have a picture that is not up there then please let me know :)
Lancome has unveiled a new makeup collection in time for the Spring season. Although its not very Spring-y (it looks more like a Christmas collection to me) the photo is quite pretty. Much better than the travesty that was the French Coquette collection ... I was wondering why such an odd name for a makeup collection but a little sleuthing (or rather a search on google) provided an explanation. 29 Rue St Honore is the location of the Lancome headquarters in Paris. Quite a nice touch to the collection!

I can't for the life of me understand why Lancome keeps pairing Daria with Elettra Wiedemann. It only makes the latter look so much plainer and we all know how she came to get her Lancome contract ... either way there are great behind the scenes pictures and hopefully a video will come out soon as well!
Behind the scenes
On the same note, I've updated the Lancome page and finished the 2010 and 2011 pages with all HQ images! Also, also, also if you haven't already you can add me on my Facebook page - I'd love to hear from readers of the site!
In case you haven't been seeing much of your favourite model (highly unlikely with her four campaigns this seasons!) here are a couple pictures to keep you readers at bay. And by couple I mean close to fifty images. It sure seems like Stefanel let their behind the scenes photographer run loose - I've never seen more onset photos with any campaign!
There's a gallery below of Daria frolicking in Paris and posing for the camers - and a cute one of her and photographer Mario Testino walking arm in arm! Seeing these photos makes me so homesick for Paris. It reminds me of last summer ... exactly a year from today I was in these exact same places. What are the odds?
Tomorrow I'll post the campaign and behind the scenes video, but I'm sure these will hold you off until then. And for easy scrolling just use your arrow keys ;)

Finally! After a few weeks of tedious waiting Lancome uploaded the fifteen minute video of Daria's editorial in May Vogue Paris "Fard Fatal". I'm trying to upload this huge file onto the site but for now you can see the entire thing here! *Edit: video added to post below
To tide you all over, I've screen capped some images from the video ... mostly my favourite moments. Daria looks so pleasant and fun to work with, although I have to admit sometimes she looked just as bored of Aaron de Mey's speeches as I was! I love seeing backstage moments such as these. It really makes you appreciate an editorial so much more when you see how much work goes into a few pages. Its so easy to forget about the teams of people that go into the making of one editorial - makeup artists, photographer, models, assistants, the assistants to assistants ... this video made me go back to my issue of Vogue Paris and pore over the images just to see if I had missed anything from before.
Edit* Cecilia has kindly uploaded the video onto youtube! Enjoy!
