It seems that Vogue Nippon is establishing new traditions ... Daria will be on the January 2010 issue of Vogue Nippon! This comes a year after her Vogue Nippon January 2009 cover which can be seen below. Hopefully, this latest cover will not be as layout-challenged as the last cover was - I think we all remember the hate that oddly placed 'G' stirred. The majority of Vogue Nippon cover girls don't get an editorial but hopefully Daria will be the exception. After all, she did have her top editorial of the year in this Japanese magazine. And the cover is shot by Inez and Vinoodh ... all signs point to something great.

Behind the scenes of the Vogue Nippon January 2009 cover ...
I'd also like to write a few words on an unfortunate event that happened late last week ... I am sure a few of you have heard of the untimely demise of Korean model Daul Kim. This news came as a shock considering that Daul was a brilliant personality and always seemed full of vivacity. She was a beautiful model and who's career I followed closely. To hear of her death was a surprise but yet again a reminder of the harshness of the fashion industry. Daul, I just want to say that you were amazing and you will be missed. Stay gold.
ETA: Previews of Daria's editorial have been posted at the Fashion Spot here and here ... Without getting ahead of myself, I think that this is the best editorial of the year. I'll post a proper post as soon as I have written something substantial!
A quick post on news from the December issue of Vogue Nippon - Daria has a new editorial! tFS member s'gnac clues us in on the details:
Daria W by (Inez van) Lamsweede & (Vinoodh) Matadin! She stands in the barley field, sometimes half-naked, and one pic, almost wears nothing, As if she says, "Please catch me in the Rye."(Please note I don't know if it is Rye field or not). Or Vogue version of Field of Dreams?
This sounds amazing! Hopefully there will be scans soon, but now there is an editorial to look forward to for the end of the year!
Also, I've found a larger image of Daria's latest Lancome advertisement from this post and this way, no scans are needed. It really is quite pretty, although her eyes look more hazel than they do blue!
The cover rumor thread at the fashion spot is buzzing with news of the November issue of Vogue Russia ... apparently Daria will be next month's covergirl! The issue will drop at any moment now, so we'll see if this rumor is true. I don't believe Daria has ever worked for Vogue Russia before, and she definitely hasn't had a cover. According to tFS member youarearockstar the cover is similar to Kate Moss' September issue ... this should be interesting!
Apparently, the powers that be at Vogue Paris have quite the obsession with Daria as of late. Kuklina at the fashist forums posted a cryptic message this Tuesday:
Vogue Paris Oct... Daria again on the cover ? We'll see...
If kuklina is right, as she usually is, then this will be Daria's third cover of the year, and her fifth altogether! Each cover so far has explored different themes and variations, and I expect the newest one to continue in the tradition. If this rumor does come out to be true I won't complain!
Daria's previous four covers (from left to right: Vogue Paris May 2005, August 2008, May 2009, August 2009)
It looks like Daria will be attending Canadas Walk of Fame yet again - and no, she isn't recieving a star for the second time! Daria is one of the many guests, including Rachelle Lefevre, Paula Patton and Brian Williams, to present awards to a new group of Walk of Fame inductees. Daria will be presenting an award to Dean and Dan Caten (of fashion label Dsquared2) for their work in the fashion industry. Hopefully this year, I might be able to go to the red carpet and take a few pictures, as I missed out on Daria's 2008 visit. This is the good thing of having a Canadian model to admire - she comes back and visits her roots! The awards are tonight so make sure to catch the show on TV!
I've yet to see who's on the cover of the October issue of Glamour UK but according to tFS ... "Daria has an 8 pg beauty article ..." in the newest issue as well as an interview. Snaps should be available soon, but for now, enjoy this new picture by Tom Munro - perfect theme considering the latest news!
Fashion's Night Out is an annual event in its second year, where models, designers, photographers and the big guns of the fashion world team up to "promote retail, restore consumer confidence, and celebrate fashion". Which basically means its a huge shopping event where people spend, spend, spend. If you happen to be in New York on September 10th, then you have the chance to meet Daria in Vogue's Sunglass Hut - "a fun interactive photo station where consumers can take snapshots with Daria while trying on sunglasses and share them with friends via Facebook and email." You can view the rest of the details here. And for more on Vogue Eyewear, they've updated their site, where they include a cheesy but cute "Daria's Diary" section, along with a new behind the scenes video, and pictures. P.S. If any Daria Files readers go to the event, I'd love to see the pictures!
Daria has an editorial in the Vogue US September issue along with a myriad of well known models. From the title, it sounds like a party/latenight editorial, but those are usually shot by Mario Testino. I'm looking forward to seeing Demarchelier's take on such a large group of models.
Tonight's The Night Photographed by : Patrick Demarchelier Styling by : Tonne Goodman Models : Liya Kebede, Jourdan Dunn, Sasha Pivovarova, Caroline Trentini, Lily Donaldson, Daria Werbowy, Anna Jagodzinska, Isabeli Fontana, Coco Rocha, Raquel Zimmermann, Natasha Poly & Karlie Kloss
It seems like the powers that be at Vogue Paris are still carrying on with dedications to models by way of single girl issues. If you remember, this year Lara Stone was solely shot for the cover and insides of Vogue Paris February 2009, and now it seems that Daria will get her own issue too. Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin are in charge of the August issue, where (supposedly) the entire magazine is dedicated to Daria. According to WWD ... ONE AND ONLY: The bookers at French Vogue must have had an easier time of late: The fashion title only booked one photographic duo and one model for the forthcoming August issue. Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin were tapped to shoot all the fashion pages for the issue with Daria Werbowy.
This would be Daria's fourth VP cover, and third in less than a year. Very excited ....
A quick preview of Daria's editorial in Vogue July 2009. It turns out that the theme is not West Side Story, but rather a tale of two best friends (Daria and Caroline Trentini) making it big in NYC. More pictures later ...
Just a heads up that Daria is in the newest Tatler UK - the July issue with Georgina Chapman on the cover. Inside she talks about her beauty secrets (no doubt a Lancome plug and the lemon tip!).
"DARIA WERBOWY - The Canadian supermodel lets Emma Smith in on her beauty secrets 1 page with photographs."
If anyone has the issue a preview would be appreciated :) Also, Daria is on the cover of a Tatler spa guide supplement for the June 2009 issue (at left, not the actual July 2009 cover). The shot is a reprint from a 2008 Vogue Paris editorial. Sadly, this is the biggest image I have ... I wasn't too fond of the editorial when it first came out but this picture makes for such a stunning cover!
The making of video for Lancome Hypnose Senses. I don't know if it's just me, but is there supposed to be any noise in this video? Either way, its beautiful!
Daria is the face of the new Lancome Hypnose Senses, a new take on the Lancome Hypnose perfume. I've found both backstage and final campaign images, with the shooting of as well. The aim is a Parisian mystique. The airbrushing is not quite as bad as it used to be and these shots are quite beautiful and light. Hopefully they will make some type of commercial to go along!
It seems that Darias work with Vik Muniz and Galpao Aplauso was not enough! If you remember, last year Daria visited Spetaculu, and in 2007 she visited the Centro Espacial in Brazil along with artist Vik Muniz. This year Daria will be host for a charity fundraiser on the 16th of May...
"Hosted by Daria Werbowy, Co-Chaired by Nicola Vassell of Deitch Projects and Mazdack Rassi of Milk Studios alongside Charlie Adamski of Christie's Auction House, "Stoked on Spring" will include 125 works of art and one-of-a-kind items in a silent auction format. Stoked Mentoring is a unique non-profit organization based in New York and Los Angeles that provides innovative mentoring programs exposing "at risk" youth and their mentors to action sports."
I think it's amazing that Daria lends her time and support to such great causes, and that she incorporates her love for art into charity. To me, this is more exciting than news of any new editorial!
So far only one picture from the met - let's just say that Daria nailed it with this one. More later, but I have to run. And .... Daria has an editorial in Vogue UK June 2009
Indian Summer: M: Daria Werbowy P: Patrick Demarchelier Fashion Ed: Lucinda Chambers. 20 pages. Standard Daria in India for UK Vogue
UPDATE - high quality picture added ... I love how Daria stayed true to her own style, and how she managed to look better than everyone else without trying. I also love the melancholy eyes - no cheesy smiles here :P
"Mario Testino and Anna Wintour recently were enthralled by the play West Side Story and (the theme) will be featured in the July issue of Vogue, in a shoot with Daria Werbowy." - Fashionweekdaily.com
If this is true, I'm so excited to see how the editorial turns out! I've always loved West Side Story, and maybe Daria would make a great Natalie Wood.
A candid shot from ... somewhere. I don't know the event or place, but Daria is with designer Matthew Williamson. And confirmed - Daria is on the cover of the summer 2009 issue of V magazine, along with other models. Each has their own seperate cover.
Remember that swimsuit extravaganza mentioned earlier this year? We have our first pictures of the editorial, and a preview of one of Daria's shots.
I actually quite like this image compared to others in the preview. I love the black and white - Daria looks very pretty. It's not vulgar at all. I'm interested to see what else Testino shot ...
Apart from her recent Topshop outing, Daria hasn't been seen at many events lately. However, she is confirmed to be at the Met Costume Institute Gala. Fellow Lancôme model Arlenis Sosa and Daria Werbowy will both appear as the guests of their makeup brand. I'm not going to lie - I'm very excited to see what she'll wear! The gala is set to take place on May 4 2009, in Manhattan.

More snapshots to complete the Game Girl editorial in Vogue Paris. I find this editorial so refreshing and exciting - it faintly reminds me of Bruce Weber's work, but it's clearly Inez & Vinoodh.
The Vogue Paris May 2009 cover and Game Girl editorial. I am officially enamoured with what I see so far! I can see the reference towards sixties sexploitation films. Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! is what immediately came to mind. I find it so much more exciting than Alt's and Inez & Vinoodh's recent work with Daria. It's so kitsch and over the top - exactly the kind of editorial I love. Special thanks to berlinrocks at theFashionSpot for the snaps!
Daria is indeed on the new cover of Vogue Paris! A review at theFashionSpot:
The cover feats Daria front shot wearing denim jacket, and khaki ensemble (short + vneck tshirt made brassière), and a besace with fringe on right shoulder. something pretty sexy militarian. she's wearing a long necklace with a shell pendant and two bracelets made of this dark blue stone (never know its name). she's holding the collar of the denim jacket with her right hand and left hand on her hips (i guess you can imagine the pose). smoky eyes and hair waxed in the back ... sunset in the back. the Vogue font is dark blue, the rest of typo is white and blue.
fashion review : Game Girl by Inez & Vinoodh and Emannuelle Alt, ft. Daria W. (and boys) 14p. colour / 2 double page "Daria is fighting with boys on the same road I&V shot Lara Stone for V.I. and the latest Balmain campain (I assume !). She's wearing bikinis (leopard, purple tye&die, vichy etc. patterns. matched/unmatched ensemble). She's wearing denim jackets or shorts and cowboy boots. not that bad for a bikini meets denim theme."

Beyond excited to see this! Daria's last cover of Vogue Paris was the August 2008 issue (above)
If you've been waiting for a reappearance in Vogue US, Daria has an editorial in the new May issue - Models as Muses. It wouldn't have been complete without her! According the tFS, Daria is shot by David Sims in a outdoor editorial (thank god it's not studio...)
Quick Change Artist Ph. David Sims Fashion Editor: Tonne Goodman Model: Daria Werbowy
"Sims finally gets some backgrounds and he gives it to us. Best Sims for Vogue edit I've seen in a long long while." Luxx at tFS
David shot Daria in the beautiful W editorial entitled Rela X, in 2003. It was outdoors as well, so let's hope for something as beautiful as this shoot.
Welcome to The Daria Files, a site I started on the beautiful and enigmatic Daria Werbowy. Here you will find a collection of her works and a few musings of my own ... hopefully you will enjoy reading! To add a disclaimer, The Daria Files is not affiliated with Daria - so no, I can't get her to talk to you, and no I am not Daria! Visit The Daria Files Gallery, for a full collection of editorials, candids and magazine scans. I am building up the archive, but hopefully, enjoy what's there!
