If you've heard the news of Alexander McQueens passing then I am sure you are as shocked as I am. British designer Alexander McQueen passed away early this morning and left behind a legacy of great design.
I wouldn't feel right not writing something about this, so may this little post be a tribute of sorts to McQueen's genius. Alexander McQueen was one of the main designers that propelled my interest in fashion and design. His collections were ones of great romance and imagination and played out to the fullest. McQueen was poised for even greater success and his new show was the one I was most anxiously awaiting this fall season. May McQueen rest in peace and truly be happy wherever he is. He was an immense talent gone too soon.
Fashion's Night Out is an annual event in its second year, where models, designers, photographers and the big guns of the fashion world team up to "promote retail, restore consumer confidence, and celebrate fashion". Which basically means its a huge shopping event where people spend, spend, spend.
If you happen to be in New York on September 10th, then you have the chance to meet Daria in Vogue's Sunglass Hut - "a fun interactive photo station where consumers can take snapshots with Daria while trying on sunglasses and share them with friends via Facebook and email." You can view the rest of the details here.
And for more on Vogue Eyewear, they've updated their site, where they include a cheesy but cute "Daria's Diary" section, along with a new behind the scenes video, and pictures.
P.S. If any Daria Files readers go to the event, I'd love to see the pictures!
Along with hosting Stoked on Spring 09 Daria donated a piece of her artwork to the charity. Here's a little blurb from Modelinia:
“To be honest, I was feeling really bad that I wasn’t doing anything and this is perfect timing,” Daria explained of her choice to become involved with the nonprofit. “I just got back from Wooster where I was boarding for two weeks, but it was the worst season ever! There was, like, no snow on the whole mountain.” She’s been an active snowboarder for years now, picking it up alongside her friends.
In addition to playing host, Daria was brave and donated a piece of her own creation to the silent auction: a painting of a bird, titled Freebird. “That’s the first time I’ve ever put anything of mine in the public eye,” she said. “I wouldn’t call myself an artist, but I draw.”
It's a great piece!
Last night Daria hosted the STOKED On Spring charity fundraiser to benefit at-risk youth. Such a great charity to be involved in and she looked great - I really like her outfit.
It seems that I'm not the only one who loves Daria's style - style.com has put up a feature where Daria shares her top picks for spring.
She has really nice style actually, and I love all of the choices- click here to see

Daria's cover strikes up a lot of similarities with Lily Donaldson's March 2009 cover. The tousled hair, hand on head and casual slouch ... the trademark model pose!
Daria is a clear favourite for me here, but what about you?
