Daria is the face of Lancome's newest collection "Aquatic Summer" for their summer 2013 season. I'm biased and I think Daria always looks pretty but unfortunately this looks nothing like Daria! Lancome have once again gone overboard with the retouching - why have such a beautiful model to front your brand and then make it look nothing like her! Sigh, just when I thought Lancome was easing up on the photoshop ...
If you remember back to a few months ago - I wasn't blogging unfortunately - there were candids circulating of Daria and her new haircut (thanks Megan for the heads up!). The cut was courtesy of Christiaanand I'm guessing the two worked on the Lancome campaign together. Wonder why Lancome decided not to incorporate the bleached rat-tail?!
If you're a makeup junkie like me you can read more about the collection here, and hopefully Lancome will come out with a more impressive campaign this year.
Also, some news on Vogue Espana and Vogue US. Unfortunately Daria didn't get the May 2013 cover for Vogue Espana but she still may have an editorial in this issue, or in the next one. And no editorial in Vogue US for May either so we'll have to wait a bit more!

Finally an editorial! This is Daria's latest work in Stylist magazine, in which we saw a preview a few days ago. Daria was photographed for the cover and an editorial by Victor Demarchelier, son of photographer Patrick Demarchelier who Daria has had many chances to work with. Let's hope she continues to work with Victor because these are beautiful photos!
Bringing Sixties Back Photographer : Victor Demarchelier Makeup : Alex Babsky for Lancome Hair : Nicholas Jurnjack
I've mentioned this before but I love what a different direction this is for Daria. We all know she can do the beach bum look very well but it can be quite boring when that's the only work she puts out. It's refreshing to see her channel her earlier predecessors like Twiggy! I think the Woodstock look is my favourite shot ... to live in the Sixties!
If you'd like to read the magazine the entire issue is online, as is the Stylist's archives! Daria has a little blurb inside the article as well:
"The Sixties were a time of great change and liberation and our culture is going through a similar time right now. The fact this inspiring decade is having such a resurgence across fashion, beauty and the arts now forces us to think about why the great ideals of love and peace didn't prevail. Now we're learning from what worked and what didn't to creat a better future." - Daria Werbowy

I was so excited to see Daria land another Lancome campaign for this year, until I realized that this campaign that just surfaced a couple of days ago is actually from 2011! April 2011 to be exact, when Lancome released an abundance of fragrances, all with Daria as the spokesmodel.
Either way, it's good to see Daria continuing her work with Lancome, even though this image is from last year ... I think we fans need to step up our game - imagine how many "unseen" Lancome campaigns there have been from the past, if we couldn't find this one from last year until now!
Daria made her return to H&M for 2012 in our last post and now she's back with another one of her longtime collaborations - Lancome! Daria, Arlenis Sosa and Hanaa Ben are photographed by Mario Testino for the Spring 2012 Lancome makeup collection.
I don't know if it's just me but Lancome's ads seem to be getting worse and worse! It's nice to see Daria still captivates Lancome after seven years together (2005 was her first campaign) but the art direction on this campaign is tacky. At least Daria looks great but the added plastic flowers and awkward placements aren't doing anything.
I'd love to see Daria do another solo campaign for Lancome soon but for now it's great to add another campaign to her Spring 2012 season.
And if you haven't already check out the Lancome page on this site - it is completely updated!
I was browsing the web and came across this small beauty interview with Marie Claire Italia. We've heard most of the questions before but some are new and its always interesting to hear Daria's take on things ... plus there is a beautiful unseen photo of Daria by Jeff Burton for Lancome!
Interview (translated by me and google very roughly).
We have had so many questions, but the beautiful Daria Werbowy is unwilling to share everything and revealed only a few secrets. But how could we blame her? Her professional life means she is always in the spotlight. At 27 years she is one of the highest paid models in the world since 2005 and is also one of the faces of Lancôme. She loves to flee on a boat sailing, her passion, along with the music she calls "my boyfriend." On the real tight-lipped. In a world that for 15 minutes of fame will do anything, so be it the privacy of a famous model.
Sleeps in total darkness? Yes.
She never goes to bed without ... A song in the background.
Beauty ritual before going to sleep? I always wash my face, no matter how tired I am.
The secret after a sleepless night? Coffee and a cream for the eye area.
Being a model means spending many nights traveling and sleepin in foreign beds. What does one need to feel at home away from home? It takes a book and the music I love to make me feel good wherever I am.
What book is on the table now? I'm reading one on Irish mythology and sagas.
What perfume or odour do you associate with the night? Clean sheets.
Daria can add another Lancome campaign to her 2011 year. She one of the three faces, along with Arlenis Sosa and Eletrra Wiedemann, for a new version of Lancomes Hypnose mascara - Doll Eyes. If vapid and beautiful, albeit slightly creepy, dolls was the look Lancome was going for then they really nailed it. Thanks to francy_italy at tFS for the heads up!
I used to really dislike Lancome ads in the past for their overly eager photoshop but I've grown to really like and look forward to their campaigns. Its not every model that has a beauty contract for over five years and Daria has done a great job as a spokesperson. I'm not biased (no really!) but Daria stands out in this campaign.
Behind the Scenes of Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes
Its also great that this came out today because I was just about to post on some site news! I completely revamped the Lancome page and Daria's entire work with Lancome is now added and archived to the site! Just browse through the years for behind the scenes pictures, commericals and campaigns. I'm really glad that a big portion of the site is now finished, but if you find any trouble or have a picture that is not up there then please let me know :)
Lancome has unveiled a new makeup collection in time for the Spring season. Although its not very Spring-y (it looks more like a Christmas collection to me) the photo is quite pretty. Much better than the travesty that was the French Coquette collection ... I was wondering why such an odd name for a makeup collection but a little sleuthing (or rather a search on google) provided an explanation. 29 Rue St Honore is the location of the Lancome headquarters in Paris. Quite a nice touch to the collection!

I can't for the life of me understand why Lancome keeps pairing Daria with Elettra Wiedemann. It only makes the latter look so much plainer and we all know how she came to get her Lancome contract ... either way there are great behind the scenes pictures and hopefully a video will come out soon as well!
Behind the scenes
On the same note, I've updated the Lancome page and finished the 2010 and 2011 pages with all HQ images! Also, also, also if you haven't already you can add me on my Facebook page - I'd love to hear from readers of the site!
Finally! After a few weeks of tedious waiting Lancome uploaded the fifteen minute video of Daria's editorial in May Vogue Paris "Fard Fatal". I'm trying to upload this huge file onto the site but for now you can see the entire thing here! *Edit: video added to post below
To tide you all over, I've screen capped some images from the video ... mostly my favourite moments. Daria looks so pleasant and fun to work with, although I have to admit sometimes she looked just as bored of Aaron de Mey's speeches as I was! I love seeing backstage moments such as these. It really makes you appreciate an editorial so much more when you see how much work goes into a few pages. Its so easy to forget about the teams of people that go into the making of one editorial - makeup artists, photographer, models, assistants, the assistants to assistants ... this video made me go back to my issue of Vogue Paris and pore over the images just to see if I had missed anything from before.
Edit* Cecilia has kindly uploaded the video onto youtube! Enjoy!
Its been a little lacking in the news lately but fortunately a new Lancome shot has been released - this time Lancôme's Ô de Lancôme perfume (at left). I'm not sure yet if it is for Ô de Lancôme and not just another shot from the Ô d'Azur campaign ... but if it is new that means Daria will be fronting two perfumes this season, and we are only half way through the year!
I was starting to wonder whether or not Lancome would produce anything with Daria this year, seeing as how other spokesmodels Ellettra Wiedemann and Julia Roberts have been doing plenty of work for the brand. But on the other hand they are well known names ... and I suppose everything is better in moderation. I really like that Lancome has decided to go the more natural and beach inspired route with Daria this time around. I've always disliked their makeup campaigns of past just because I think Daria is most beautiful when left with little makeup on. As long as it continues this way I'm excited to see what Lancome has in store.
It's been five years since Daria first landed the Lancome Hypnose campaign. Last year was Hypnose Senses and now in 2010 Lancome has launched a brand new perfume campaign - Lancome Ô d'Azur. Its bright and pretty, and quite different from what Daria has done for Lancome in the past.
What's better (or worse depending on whether or not you like the image) is that whenever a model lands a perfume campaign its here to stay, usually for a good five years. Remember Marija Vujovic's Dolce & Gabanna Light campaign? That was from 2007 and I still see it everywhere today! Hopefully there will be more information on this new perfume too (and a video campaign wouldn't hurt either) but for now its good to hear that Daria is still keeping up with her Lancome contract.
Also, according to an anynoymous tipper Daria shot the campaign for Austrialian brand Oroton in Palm Springs. If this comes to fruition it will be interesting to see!
