Daria made her return to H&M for 2012 in our last post and now she's back with another one of her longtime collaborations - Lancome! Daria, Arlenis Sosa and Hanaa Ben are photographed by Mario Testino for the Spring 2012 Lancome makeup collection.
I don't know if it's just me but Lancome's ads seem to be getting worse and worse! It's nice to see Daria still captivates Lancome after seven years together (2005 was her first campaign) but the art direction on this campaign is tacky. At least Daria looks great but the added plastic flowers and awkward placements aren't doing anything.
I'd love to see Daria do another solo campaign for Lancome soon but for now it's great to add another campaign to her Spring 2012 season.
And if you haven't already check out the Lancome page on this site - it is completely updated!
More great news - Daria returns yet again as the face of Stefanel for the Spring 2012 campaign. Like their previous efforts Stefanel went for the rock and roll look. Nothing too new but it's great to see Daria in print (and video!) again.
I'll post the campaign images as soon as they're available but for now enjoy the video!
Daria has her first official campaign for the Fall Winter 2011/12 season! Although she didn't return as the face of Balmain after her Spring Summer '10 campaign (although models rarely do repeats for Balmain) she reprises her role as the face of Stefanel for the FW 11/12 campaign! This is her fourth consecutive and fourth overall campaign for the Italian label, so I think its safe to call Daria the Stefanel girl now!
All of the Stefanel campaigns (which you can see under the Campaigns page) have had different themes but an overlying idea of a relaxed but sophisticated cool - just like Daria. So I'm not surprised the company went for Daria again. I like the feel of this campaign already - it looks like it will be another out and about in the city idea but this time in Berlin. And you can never go wrong with dogs ... look at how cute that puppy is!

Lancome has unveiled a new makeup collection in time for the Spring season. Although its not very Spring-y (it looks more like a Christmas collection to me) the photo is quite pretty. Much better than the travesty that was the French Coquette collection ... I was wondering why such an odd name for a makeup collection but a little sleuthing (or rather a search on google) provided an explanation. 29 Rue St Honore is the location of the Lancome headquarters in Paris. Quite a nice touch to the collection!

I can't for the life of me understand why Lancome keeps pairing Daria with Elettra Wiedemann. It only makes the latter look so much plainer and we all know how she came to get her Lancome contract ... either way there are great behind the scenes pictures and hopefully a video will come out soon as well!
Behind the scenes
On the same note, I've updated the Lancome page and finished the 2010 and 2011 pages with all HQ images! Also, also, also if you haven't already you can add me on my Facebook page - I'd love to hear from readers of the site!
In case you haven't been seeing much of your favourite model (highly unlikely with her four campaigns this seasons!) here are a couple pictures to keep you readers at bay. And by couple I mean close to fifty images. It sure seems like Stefanel let their behind the scenes photographer run loose - I've never seen more onset photos with any campaign!
There's a gallery below of Daria frolicking in Paris and posing for the camers - and a cute one of her and photographer Mario Testino walking arm in arm! Seeing these photos makes me so homesick for Paris. It reminds me of last summer ... exactly a year from today I was in these exact same places. What are the odds?
Tomorrow I'll post the campaign and behind the scenes video, but I'm sure these will hold you off until then. And for easy scrolling just use your arrow keys ;)

The campaign count is two as of now and I'm positive that Daria will get more for the fall winter 2010 season. Just today scans came up of the Fall Winter 2010 Yves Saint Laurent campaign. Daria is the sole star, photographed by Inez and Vinoodh. A quick post to just show the scans and I'll post something more substantial later on. YSL Is looking really good though.
And then there is Stefanel Fall Winter 2010 by Mario Testino. A bit repetitive and reminescent of Daria's recent "Americans In Paris" editorial from US Vogue. Most probably styled by the same people and photographed at the same time.
Daria's second editorial in Vogue Paris this month is based on a series of photographs of the infamous Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg.
La DécaDanse Vogue Paris May 2010 Daria Werbowy and Francesco Vezzoli by Mario Testino
Vogue Paris May 2010
The powers that be at Vogue Paris must have been listening to my silent pleas, because after years of waiting someone has acted on a Jane Birkin inspired editorial with Daria. And not once, but twice in the past month. The combination of my top sixties chanteuse and top model have made for a nice surprise ... I'm listening to my Melody Nelson CD as I write! Although Vogue US had their dandy version of Daria as Jane, Vogue Paris goes for a significantly more erotic approach. Not surprising, considering Vogue Paris is always referred to as US Vogue's naughty younger sister.
The series is based on a set of photographs that Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin by Francis Giacobetti in 1974. For those of you who don't know Jane Birkin was a brilliant and beautiful French singer - her relationship with Serge Gainsbourg (a musical icon in France) was tempestuous and produced some of the most infamous music of the time. Gone was the doe eyed Jane of the sixties and in came a raunchier version of the chanteuse. This is Daria's second most notable editorial accompanied by a male character (excluding those frivolous yet charming actor/model sets in Vogue US) ... I'm correct in thinking you can all remember In Love? It's interesting to note how I didn't once take a look at Vezzoli throughout this entire editorial. It doesn't help that his most discernible feature is his unruly mop of hair but Daria is center stage in every one of these photos.
Quite unlike her 2008 editorial, In Love, which although beautiful was flawed in its believability. This editorial is much more convincing. Erotic, albeit much less controversial than Jane and Serge's, both Francesco and Daria give their characters life and much needed depth. I love the modernity of this editorial, everything from the grey styling to the ultra sleek furniture (yes, I know - who's looking at the furniture?). It has a certain reservation to it that the pictures below, ahem, don't. An interesting foray from Mario Testino and Daria. I would have held this work more akin to Mario Sorrenti or even Inez and Vinoodh. Testino has stepped it up as of late and this editorial has only piqued my interest in what will come next ... like a Lauren Bacall reference? Carine, are you listening?

I love the fact that for their annual Great American Women issue Vogue US chooses to feature Daria in not one but two editorials. The top Canadian model dominating an Americana issue ... I'm fine with that. Daria appears in both Americans in Paris, and American Experience, the latter of which is shaping out to look really good. I get such a Terry Richardson/Vogue Paris/Jane Birkin vibe from these. Vogue Paris + Richardson's street work = a really good combination so this is something to look forward to.
Americans in Paris (6 pages) Model: Daria Photographer: Mario Testino
American Experience (12 pages) Models: Daria, Frida Gustavsson, Karlie Kloss, Sasha Pivovarova, Lara Stone, Raquel Zimmermann, Liya Kebede, Patricia Van Der Vilet, Kasia Struss and Mirte Maas. Photographer: David Sims
This studio editorial is decidedly more different than the one above but I'm liking this nonetheless. The makeup looks really similar to Daria's editorial in Vogue Paris, Tsarine Daria, this month. Just hold out a few days and hopefully everything will be scanned!
I was holding out on scans of Daria's editorial to make a post, but time has passed (a lot of time) and I figured now or never. The time is specially fitting seeing as how I found a behind-the-scenes video of the making of Daria's latest editorial in V Magazine - "Ave Maria". Can I just say how much I love vimeo and its HD quality? This video is just endless shots of Daria smoking and posing, but for readers like you I'm sure you'll watch it more than once!
"Ave Maria" V Magazine #64 2010 Daria Werbowy by Mario Testino
Homage editorials are a fixture in Mario Testino's work and Daria is his go-to model for these types of works. She has portrayed everyone from Ava Gardner to an Alfred Hitchcock heroine and now takes her turn as Maria Félix, an icon of the Golden Age in Mexican cinema. Past efforts, although filled with colour and beautiful setting, always came off as too fabricated. I think its in Testino's nature to be too over the top and call in extravagant sets and styling. That's why I am so (pleasantly) surprised at this editorial and its simple set. I love that the focus is called to the styling and Daria's modeling. This editorial brings more justice to a character than an overly produced photo story would, especially in the beautiful fourth shot.
Keep a lookout for the 64th issue of V magazine. The March/April 2010 issue of the Visionaire publication has yet to be released but previews of the editorials have been leaking for a while. Suprise suprise, Daria has an editorial inside (at the rate Daria is working this year I wouldn't be surprised if she make's the April issue of Vogue ... ok maybe a little surprised)!
Most Wanted is photographed by Mario Testino and inspired by Mexican film star Maria Felix. The cover hasn't been released but Testino is often a contributor so there is a good chance that it could be Daria. From the previews this looks really nice and it will be so interesting to see this mix of cowgirl and Mexican culture played out.
