Remember the Flashback Friday pictures I posted a while ago of Daria in her first runway shows for Comrags? I ended up finding a bunch of rare runway pics again! These are from the Spring 2002 Hong Kong Trade show (also known as Hong Kong Luxe), a showcase of up and coming Chinese designers that was presented in New York in 2001.
So far I was only aware of one picture from the show but knew that Daria had walked in more looks. And now we get to see photos of these looks!
Ahh the early naughties. If there were ever a time where cowboy hats and denim flowering vests were acceptable (this can be debated) this was it. Daria looks so baby-faced in these! I've always liked her with darker hair so I prefer this colour on her, but definitely not the cut.
There have also been a few videos released of this show, one of which you can see below. To my knowledge this was the only show Daria walked in before the September 11 attacks on New York, after which her debut Spring 2002 season was cut short.

It's always so awesome finding rare pictures like these and even better sharing them with you! Hope you had a good laugh at the styling and have a great weekend everyone!
Edited 05/03 - New candids added to the post!
Daria and photographer Cass Bird team up once again for a short video, and this time it's for Vogue's "Punk Stories", a series of web films put out highlighting the recent punk revival in fashion and the theme of this year's Met Gala.
"For our third installment of “Punk Stories,” director Cass Bird shot model Daria Werbowy channeling the many faces and fashions of punk—from a Billy Idol-esque bleached crop to a perfectly spiked and studded leather jacket—see if you can catch all six of her looks in our video." - vogue.com

I love this. I don't think I'll ever get bored of Cass's work with Daria because she's always switching it up. Daria has been modeling for nearly two decades but we had yet to see her channel her inner punk before this video. She definitely pulls off not just the looks but attitude as well. And how awesome does she look behind the microphone?
There were also a few pictures released along with the video, which you can see below. I don't know if they'll ever be in print but I'm assuming this is only for the online website - Vogue can only go so punk!
No word yet on whether or not Daria will be attending this years Met Gala (on May 6) but she's been absent the past two years and big parties aren't really her scene so I doubt it. But for now enjoy the vid!

I hope everyones week has been going well! I've had three exams in the past two days and have managed to do everything but pay attention to my books ... including finding these two new Maiyet images! I stumbled on two 'new' images from the Spring 2012 campaign, photographed by Cass Bird. If you'd like to see the full campaign it is on the Ad Campaigns page.
The photos were on the website of PSA Creative, the company in charge of art direction of the Maiyet campaigns. I think we have to give the agency as much credit as we do to Cass and Daria because they always pick such beautiful locations and ideas. An interesting tidbit on the shooting of this campaign - it was shot on the hundreth anniversary of Amelia Earhart's trans-atlantic flight. Cool to know so much thought goes into the making of these images ... it definitely shows!
Finally an editorial! This is Daria's latest work in Stylist magazine, in which we saw a preview a few days ago. Daria was photographed for the cover and an editorial by Victor Demarchelier, son of photographer Patrick Demarchelier who Daria has had many chances to work with. Let's hope she continues to work with Victor because these are beautiful photos!
Bringing Sixties Back
Photographer : Victor Demarchelier
Makeup : Alex Babsky for Lancome
Hair : Nicholas Jurnjack
I've mentioned this before but I love what a different direction this is for Daria. We all know she can do the beach bum look very well but it can be quite boring when that's the only work she puts out. It's refreshing to see her channel her earlier predecessors like Twiggy! I think the Woodstock look is my favourite shot ... to live in the Sixties!
If you'd like to read the magazine the entire issue is online, as is the Stylist's archives! Daria has a little blurb inside the article as well:
"The Sixties were a time of great change and liberation and our culture is going through a similar time right now. The fact this inspiring decade is having such a resurgence across fashion, beauty and the arts now forces us to think about why the great ideals of love and peace didn't prevail. Now we're learning from what worked and what didn't to creat a better future." - Daria Werbowy

I figured I would continue the social media "Flashback Friday" trend onto this site and share these pictures with you guys! I was looking through old campaign images of Daria's and came across this old ad for Wenches and Rogues. W&R is a small Canadian boutique chain that mostly houses Canadian brands, one of them being Comrags.
Comrags Spring 2000 / Comrags Fall 2000</p>
I visited the Comrags site and luckily enough they have a site archive. Lo and behold Daria made a few runway appearances! It amazes me how many pictures I find that are right under my nose, especially ones from the very beginning of her career. Knowing Daria has been working for over 17 years I can only imagine how many unseen images there are, but for now we have a look at some of her first work.
Comrags Spring 2001
The designers were also well aware of Daria's potential on her first runway show for them. She's even mentioned in a little snippet from an article on the Comrags design duo, in a March 2008 issue of the National Post (a Canadian newspaper).
"It was supermodel Daria Werbowy's first show for us. She changed practically every second outfit - we knew we would never see her again!"
Maybe one day we'll get to see those other looks as well!
Anyways I think thats about enough internet digging you or I can handle at this point, so enjoy!
If you've been following Vogue Australia closley this year you'll have noticed that the magazine has used models on the cover three months in a row - unusual in a time when celebrities are usually the ones on cover duty. To date they've had Lara Stone, Miranda Kerr, and now Karlie Kloss on the cover in a five part collector's edition titled "The Model Series".
What hasn't been mentioned is that Vogue Austrialia has an exclusive with IMG Models for this series (controversially so). There are two spots left and Gemma Ward is rumored to be on one of the covers but Daria does have a portfolio on the IMG Models Australia page so her nabbing a cover is a possiblity. To date Daria has been on the cover three times, her last one being in June 2012.
This is all just speculation on my part but it would be interesting to see.
We finally get to see the Maiyet video for Spring 2013! It's Daria and Cass Bird's third collaboration for the label and this time it was shot in beautiful Varanasi, India. My favourite campaign to date is still the first one, Spring 2012, but this one comes a close second. Enjoy!

We've been getting so many behind the scenes pictures of Daria lately - great to see because it just means more work in the upcoming months! To recap we've seen behind-the-scenes pictures of an upcoming spread in Vogue Espana with Patrick Demarchelier, and Mert Alas and Daria at work in Venice for an editorial in US Vogue. The pics below are also from Daria's work with Mert, taken by an Italian news site.
The pink coat Daria is wearing is from Bottega Veneta pre-fall 2013 so I expect we should see these images in the July or August issue of Vogue, if I'm getting my collections correct. I love the classic hair and Venice is a beautiful place so I'm more than sure these images will be translated beautifully in print.
London based hair stylist Paul Hanlon also posted a picture of him and Daria in London. They've worked together before, mostly editorial work, so hopefully something will come of their meeting! All in all we've got three editorials to look forward to!
"Beyond Daria !! Such a beauty and such a nice person!! Pleasure to work with always !! April 6, 2013"

Update! Daria and Mert are shooting for an editorial in US Vogue!
I just did an Instagram check and a few familiar faces popped up on my feed! Both Daria and Mert Alas (of photographic duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot) posted some silly photos. It doesn't take much deduction to know that there will be some new work to come from these selfies!
They're both in Venice but it's not clear as to what they're working on. A poster on tFS guessed that it might be a campaign, and Versace would make a lot of sense but that's already been wrapped up. What do you think?
Either way it's great to see them working together. So far we've just been getting previews of Daria working with photographers so it'll be great to see all of these translated in print.
I can finally make new posts! Hurray for having an update newer than August 2012 haha! The OnSugar people were very quick to help (thank you!) so now posts can resume normally and hopefully we'll get the discussion and comments we had before.
In Daria related news, Cass Bird has uploaded two more pictures to her Instagram account and one of the photos (black and white, below) looks like the setup for a new photoshoot! Hopefully we get to see more work like this because it is quite beautiful!
And another candid below. Happy Thursday everyone!
